Accomodating learning

There is no doubt that instructional delivery becomes more of a challenge when there are students whose native language is not English.

And when ten or more languages and nationalities may be represented in the same classroom, the problem is compounded.

The rationale behind this accommodation is that students with hearing loss: a. Additionally, the way speech is recorded is not optimal for students listening with hearing loss.

All of these factors create gaps that need to be “filled in” by the hard of hearing student which in turn increases the required listening effort relative to their peers.

JAN’s Accommodation and Compliance Series is designed to help employers determine effective accommodations and comply with Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
